Exploring the Material Beyond the Ground

Fullscreen

In collaboration with internationally acclaimed Monica Förster Design Studio, OUTT expands its material research beyond architecture and landscape – into furniture.

The new table collection for Fogia marks the first time OUTT terrazzo is lifted from the ground and brought into the intimate scale of the home and interior space. Through this collaboration, the material reveals its tactile potential: not just as a surface to walk on, but as one to live with.

These tables are a meeting point between refined industrial waste and Scandinavian form-making. The terrazzo, composed of reclaimed marble fragments, is recontextualized.

The collaboration demonstrates how a material built for permanence and resilience can also express elegance, subtlety, and emotional depth.

In this collaboration with Monica Förster Design Studio, the OUTT terrazzo surface is not merely applied – it is interpreted. Working with fragments of reclaimed marble, Förster did not impose form onto the material, but listened to it.

The result is a collection of tables for Fogia that feels less like a design intervention and more like an excavation – revealing what was already embedded in the material’s origin.

The OUTT terrazzo was developed to express endurance and restraint. Monica Förster took those same values and translated them into forms that are monolithic yet intimate, silent but commanding. In her hands, the terrazzo becomes almost geological again – its broken edges left exposed, its mass elevated into new compositions.
